Melisa
Vet Assistant/ Kennel Tech.
Melisa is a Vet Tech in training and a Kennel Tech at Santa Fe Pet Clinic. After 1 year pursuing a business degree with Johnson country community college she decided to make a change in study and pursue the love and care she has for animals. Her goal is to help any pet in need anyway she can. Melisa started donating toys and food to animal sanctuary’s during Christmas 2022 and she plans to continue doing that yearly!
The best decision she ever made was rescuing her first dog, Milo, and now she has 3 of them; Milo, a short haired Chihuahua, Suki, a long haired Chihuahua and Remy, a mini Dachshund and her cat, Max that she loves with her whole heart. Melisa says “A golden rule I live by is always have a big smile and show kindness to everyone because you never know what someone is going through.” We are so happy that Melisa joined our clinic family.

Becca
Vet Tech
I’ve always had a passion for animals so in 2018 I took a leap of faith and stepped away from my career to pursue veterinary medicine. I’ve loved it ever since. My husband and I have been married 10 years and have 2 fur babies (Tipton & Kayde) & God has blessed us with a perfect baby girl (Peyton).
In 2022 I started my career with Santa fe pet clinic & I truly enjoy thriving with the amazing staff I work with. They are a bonus family for sure!

She loves animals with her whole heart and soul.
Dr. Leslie Wegele
Veterinarian
From his early years to present day, Dr. Wegele has been fascinated with how the body works and the exquisite balance God has built into it. Pursuing his fascination, he graduated in 1984 from Kansas State University and practiced for 3 years in Oklahoma City with an emphasis on small animal dermatology. After moving back, he worked in Kansas City, MO at Loma Vista Animal Hospital in July 1987 until he bought Santa Fe Pet Clinic in January 1993 and just celebrated the clinic’s 20th Anniversary on January 1st, 2013. Leslie endeavors to keep up with the most current trends and techniques in veterinary medicine by attending continuing education classes and seminars. After nearly 30 years of practicing veterinary medicine, Dr. Wegele says what he enjoys most about it is, “Getting a difficult case healthy and back to their family. I especially appreciate the relationships with the people. By keeping their furry family members healthy and part of the family for many happy, productive years, I have a positive role in supporting that family.” When not helping his furry friends, Leslie enjoys being at home with his wife, Julie, and together they enjoy their two daughters, son, daughter-in-law, and granddaughter. Between his sister-in-laws’ and their own critters, they help care for at least 5 cats, 2 dogs, various ponies, burros, a Vietnamese pig, a llama, and more chickens than you can count. Dr. Wegele is an active member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, the Kansas Veterinary Medical Association, and the Kansas City Veterinary Medical Association.
